A Note From Camp Half-Blood Hi! My name is Kevin Medeus, and I’m a demigod. You might be asking yourself, “What the heck does that mean?” Or you might think I’m a lunatic and steer clear. King Lear Like most tragic heroes, Lear is of noble birth. (i.e. King) (because no playwright is kind enough to make their heroes’ downfall any easier.) Anyways, the fact that Lear is (was) king is not very subtle, nor is it at all hidden (it would seem that Shakespeare might as well have stood in the center of the stage, blowing a giant tuba with ‘hey idiots, this guy is king’ written on it.) Seriously, he couldn’t be any kinglier (get it? King Lear, Kinglie- oh never mind.) if he tried. But I’d feel really empty and depressed if I didn’t put a quote here, so: Gloucester: “The king is coming.”
